A. some windows files might be missing.try to repair with the windows c.d if not try with any other utilities such as tuneup utilities.even if you could not repair you would atleast get the info about the exact problem,so that you could rectify.

A. You can't, really. chkdsk /f will do a disk check, but not as extensive as the one done from Error Checking.

How do you fix "cannot connect" error? Will not go to web, but messenger is ok.Wireless, other computers ok.
Q. We have wireless, but my kids computer says it cannot connect to any web-site. Has been doing this about a week.Yahoo messenger still works and all of their other programs, they just can't get on to any web-sites. Any ideas on how to fix? We've tried selecting a restore point, but that didn't work either. Error Message Says "Internet Explorer Cannot display the web-page" and gives causes and Diagnose. We've checked all of these, but are obviously connected since messenger works.

A. The web browser could have some old or incorrect settings in a couple of places. First, with the Internet Explorer open, click Tools, Internet Options, then select the Connections tab. I'll attach a screenshot of what mine looks like below. If you don't have to do anything special to get Messenger to work, you probably want to see "never dial" checked. Next thing is the Lan Settings button at the bottom of this same window. Verify that either "Automatically Detect" is checked, or nothing at all. If you actually have a proxy server at your house, then I'm giving you bad information, but that's pretty unlikely. Those two places are easy spots for the IE to get railroaded on the way to the web. Also have you tried just… [cont.]

How do I get rid of a "No Disk" error?
Q. Randomly, an error message will appear saying that windows cannot read a disk. Then, I go to my computer, and there are 4 "generic" usb mass storage devices, even though I don't have any plugged in. What must I do when a "data error (cyclic redundancy check)" window appeared ?
Q. When I install something to my computer, it says : "Unable to create a temporary file. Error 23: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)". What must I do ? When I install something to my computer, it says : "Unable to create a temporary file. Error 23: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)". What must I do ? And what do you mean by "surface analysis" ?
Asked by - Fri Nov 27 17:38:34 2009 - Other - Computers - 1 Answers - Comments

A. A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error reports a bad spot on the hard disk that can't retain data. The hard disk controller should eventually mark it as bad and never try to use it again. If you can run a surface analysis, that should also find it and mark it as unusable. Hope that helps.

A. System Error Memory Dump Files = Contain dump files created by Windows because of a Stop error. If you've resolved the problem that caused the Stop error or do not plan to send the dump file to Microsoft or another support technician, you can delete the dump files.

A. I just had a similar problem with my Gateway laptop. It turned out that my hard drive was fried and since my computer was still under warranty, they mailed me a new one. You need to determine if your motherboard is detecting your hard drive. That can be done by going into the Bios Option when your computer first boots up (usually accessed by one of the F keys or by the delete button). If there is something under "Primary IDE" or "Primary Master" then that means your hard drive IS being detected and it could just be a driver problem. If it is not being detected, then for sure your hard drive is damaged and you need to buy a new one. If your computer is still under warranty, just call the manufacturer. If not, take it to… [cont.]

Q. evry time i try to copy a disk i see this error.what shoud i do?

A. Cyclic Redundency Check? It's a code added to the blocks on a medium (disc, floppy, cdrom) based on what's supposed to be stored there. If the code written when the block was written, differs from what is calculated when it's read, the computer will assume the block contains corrupted data. If it's HDD, then either the file-system or the physical disk itself is damaged. If your talking about CDROMs and DVDs, then they're often "protected" from copying by adding delibirate errors. When you run the programs, only the healthy parts are read; but when you try to copy it, you'll encounter these "bad areas", causing your copy-program to fail. Trying to burn just the actual files, will probably not help either, because the… [cont.]

A. in the start menu go to system tools and preform a system defrag. Have you removed all the programs through add/remove program? that's important to fully uninstall and remove unused programs. After Defrag restart your computer. If you are still getting the error message then go back to system tools under the start menu and do a system restore - this will bring you back to before you deleted old programs. Then start by deleting files or making back ups on disk you don't need such as old pics, movies, music, then go to add/remove and remove programs you do not use (Make sure they are programs you have added that are not required to run windows, internet or anything else you use - don't delete your java or av, etc.) When you open your browser… [cont.]

Q. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLs for kernel.". I don't have a recovery cd what do I do?.
Asked by - Sun Nov 27 17:44:49 2011 - Software - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Try to reboot with F8 into safe mode. As soon as you turn on your PC, keep hitting F8 until the boot screen comes up. Then go into safe mode. If you can make it that far, a system restore should fix it. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. If that doesn't work... you'll need to either order the recovery CDs from whoever made your PC (HP, Dell, etc.) or find a friend that is willing to let you borrow their Windows CD.

A. This is addressed on IDE ATA drives, not SATA drives. For those of you having this problem, Here's your answer: Make sure that the black jumper in the back of your main hard drive is set to "MA" (MASTER) as abbreviated according to the schematics shown on top of your hard drive. (On the sticker at the bottom.) Any other drives that you have such as your CD-ROM, DVD-ROM must be placed as "SL" (SLAVE) as abbreviated on the back of them. (These abbriviated letterings are stamped in the metal or plastic part in the back, it can be hard to see, use a flashlight to get a good look at it. Those of you have different brand computers, need to get into the BIOS. First, when you first turn on the computer, the post boot screen… [cont.]

What the heck does" Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" mean?
Q. "Cannot copy AUTOPLAY: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." When I try to run a setup.exe on my computer this comes up. Thoughts? Maybe if I could run the game on a older computer and copy over the play.exe file after copying all the CDS to my computer I could play the game on my computer in compatibility mode? The data isn't corrupted though, because it's an official CD with no scratches.
Asked by - Sat Feb 20 11:48:39 2010 - Other - Computers - 4 Answers - Comments

A. To learn about this error, go to In this case, scratches on the cd might be the reason. closing the the scratches might solve this problem. CD readers uses laser to read the content of the disk. Scratch edge on the cd causes the laser to reflect in wrong direction. This makes a cd not readable. If these scratches are closed properly, it becomes readable. 1.First clean the surface of the cd with clean running water(tap water). 2.Gently apply a little amount of toothpaste on it. 3.Take a clean, soft, wet cloth and clean the disk. Make sure u dont wipe out all the paste on it. Wait until the cd dries and start using it. It is always better to have a backup of the damaged disk.
