If you make a mistake at work should you try to explain yourself to your boss?
Q. Once before I made a mistake I tried to explain myself he said he didnt want to hear excuses. I wonder if it is better to say nothing now, or appologize. Gentlemen, My apologies for any lapse in quality, perceived or otherwise. There is, as always, a reasonable explination. Nonetheless your comments are duly noted. Regards, K.L. What do you think? I did use spell check. What word did you think was spelled incorrectly? My boss emailed me about the mistake. But my changes were approved by QA

A. I'd leave it alone. If it hasn't been discovered yet and will have negative consequences, then you need to tell your boss. Otherwise, if they think it's something major they will come to you, and then you can apologize.

What is the biggest mistake you have made in a real estate transaction?
Q. Buying or selling real estate, what has been your biggest mistake. Was it the agent you hired, doing rehab work that didn't pay off, not hiring a good inspector, financing? What do you wish you knew then that you know now and will apply to your next real estate transaction? Thanks!

A. The one thing I think about is when I bought a rental property, I made my offer, not knowing about negotiating tactics. The buyer agent had me sign a dual agency agreement, and I don't think he had my best interests at heart. I offered a low price and ended up paying full price. I was naive to the fact that he was not on my side, and also, I should have asked for closing costs or some other bargaining chip. And I should have stood my ground on the slightly lower price, after coming up some. Being in the investor shoes, the buyer needed me more than I needer her. I could've walked away, but she needed to sell. So she probably would've taken the lower price had I stopped. Overall, I do not regret the investment, it was good, I am also lucky… [cont.]

How can you let a huge mistake go after apologizing?
Q. I made a mistake by saying something that got around and back to the person it had to do with. I apologized and did everything i could. I admitted I was wrong, but how can I let it go now that it's over and done with. I feel so bad for having done it and it was 100% unintentional.
Asked by zephanblaxberg - Tue Mar 31 23:22:09 2009 - Etiquette - 2 Answers - Comments

A. The best that you can do is to admit what you did was wrong. You apologized to the person that you hurt and you need to let the others know that you were wrong and you are sorry for it. We all make mistakes, when we admit what we have done it frees us.

What happens if a guy makes a mistake on the last race?
Q. Sebastian Vettel hit Mark Webber in Fuji, Japan, causing him to be punished in the next race China, where he was dropped down many positions. So if a guy makes a similar mistake like Vettel on the last race, will he be punished in the first race of next season?
Asked by BMW M5 - Mon Oct 22 01:59:45 2007 - Formula One - 2 Answers - Comments

A. There aren't any set punishments on the rulebook for all offences and the FIA mostly does things on a case by case basis. I don't think the FIA would carry on a punishment from one year to another, they will probably do something like deduct points or give a team a fine.

How do I correct the mistake of a low salary requirement after the interview?
Q. It was unexpected as I was never asked for my salary requirement so my nervous dumb self answered just point blank 40k. I researched the salaries for my job position and it is 43-55k. Should I email my interviewer my mistake? Or just make a counter offer if offered a job at the low salary I required? Hopefully they'll base it on my current pay? Because hourly I am paid much more but I don't get benefits. HELP!

What is the best way to tell your bank that you made a mistake on some items that were disputed that I made?
Q. I filed a dispute on some items last week that I actually authorized and had forgotten about them, not only that but i also filed a poice report. I am planning on calling them today to let them know about it and that it was a mistake that i made but i really don't know how to tell them or what exactly they will do.
Asked by janice1 - Tue Aug 14 09:09:59 2007 - Credit - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Just contact your local bank, I am sure that they will be more than happy to cancel the dispute. It only takes a press of a button. And for the Police Report, I would also contact them and let them know that it was a mistake, I'm sure that they would understand.

There is a mistake in my address. How many days would it take to get corrected?
Q. Say i need to go on a foreign tour to Bangkok, would the Mistake in address create any problems for me? As the VISA system is on arrival.
Asked by monsterajay_tim - Tue Dec 14 03:36:03 2010 - Yahoo! Answers - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Should not be any problem as they do not check addresses on arrival, they just process your visa. If you are from a country that can get a visa on arrival, then a mistake on the address won't be any problem, just be sure to comply with all the requirements for a visa on arrival (VOA). See link below if you need any info about what you might need for your VOA. If the address mistake you mention is in your passport, I would suggest that when you fill in your VOA form you write your address exactly the same as the "mistake" address, so there won't be any confusion, it may be difficult trying to explain that the address in your passport is wrong, then when you return home you can get the mistake address changed. If the address in… [cont.]

What action/mistake causes a person to flip a bike forward when clutching and shifting?
Q. Someone once told me that if you clutch and shift a certain way, you'll flip the bike and kill yourself. I never heard that before that day, didn't know it was possible to flip a bike, kind of scared the crap out of me. The way they said it, I figured they must've known someone who did do it. Since I'm planning on getting a bike soon, I want to know what causes it so that I can avoid making that mistake. Does anybody know?

A. If you left off reported income, the mismatch letter is usually within a year. If you took unallowed deductions or didn't report all business income properly, it's usually with 3 years, but it could be up to 6. Fraud can be forever.

A. Aaron had a better year this year. Brett should retire. Aaron will bounce back next year. GB lost because of their Defense mostly. Aaron lost a few games for them but GB Defense let him down. GB should stick to Aaron. Favre is old and worn out. Even if he stayed with GB he would of have a so-so year. His body cannot take it.

A. everything you do has to be in writing sent certified mail, return receipt requested... get a statement from the original creditor, stating that the account was send to the collection agent in error. Then write a letter to the collection agency, stating you are disputing this debt, and offer the letter as proof that the debt is invalid... Demand that they remove the disputed line immediately, from each credit bureau they may have submitted the debt to. Then write each credit bureau and explain that you have been denied credit, and ask for a copy of your updated credit report from each credit bureau. once you get the credit reports then write letters to each credit reporting agency disputing the line in question, and offer a copy of the… [cont.]

A. There is no way to mistake proof anything. However, there are techniques to follow that minimize mistakes. First, tape off the trim. There is a paper/tape combination you can use. It's about 5" wide, and one edge is adhesive. Tape along the top of the base where it meets the wall, and let it drape down over the baseboards. For door and window casing, use 1-1/2" or 2" wide blue painters tape. Use that also to tape around your light fixture. For tools, you will need a 2-1/2" sash brush (the angled bottom type), a roller with 2 sleeves-one for the ceiling, one for the walls. If the walls and ceiling are he same color, you only need one. A 4" roller and handle will also come in handy. You will need a tray, the bigger… [cont.]

Why do we let a single mistake, that causes no bodily harm, end personal or business relationships?
Q. All of us have seen or heard this happen one or more times in our lifetime. The length of time the relationship lasted and the number of good memories and good times shared is completely irrelevant. 1 mistake, no matter how big or small can and too often does over-ride everything. It is something that has always bothered me and always will. Is there anyone out there that has an answer that will lay this issue to rest once and for all? I have been trying to find it now for several years and haven't found it yet.

A. If the mistake is more important than the value of the friendship this will happen. If you have a really good, true, loyal friend, it takes many mistakes. Maybe you'll have them for life.
