A. This is a lot of mumbo-jumbo with misspelled words, incomplete sentences, extraneous information, and half of it makes no sense at all. Is this an assigment? It seems that what the writer is trying to say is this: Business writing involves writing reports, memos, and articles. Being able to write and communicate well is just as important in business as it is in critical writing. Whether done for business or any other purpose, your writing needs to be clear, succinct, well organized, and structured. Start by taking out all the information that is not important to the topic, such as the sentences about the aunt and uncle. Correct the grammar and spelling by running it through your spell checker. Organize your thoughts in a logical order so… [cont.]

What do you think of this breakup scene?
Q. This isn't part of anything, I just had the sudden urge to write a breakup scene to cure writer's block (and for practice). Any constructive feedback is appreciated! --- This is interesting, my boyfriend says, propping some thick, dull looking book against an orange juice jar as he eats. Want to hear it? I m sure it s neither interesting nor do I want to hear it, but I go with a noncommittal mumble that he can interpret how he wants. Besides, he s going to tell me his stupid fact whether I say yes or no, so there s really no point in even answering. According to the Geneva School of Business, he says excitedly, there s actually a formula for the perfect relationship. How great is that? I can see why this concept appeals to him. He would… [cont.]

A. It's a little contradictory because she acts like she's constantly annoyed by him and doesn't like him but then is heartbroken when he breaks up with her? It would be more realistic if she was mad for him breaking up with her when she should be the one breaking up with him.

A. This email suffers from problems in punctuation, misuse of homonyms and run-on sentences. It'll have to be rewritten to render it coherent.

A. I liked it :) I only have a few thoughts to share: I had a problem with Matt's speech from the middle to the end. I know he's supposed to be a "geek", but in reality people don't talk like that, so it felt forced to me. It felt like purposely using unnecessary words to portray his geekiness, but I think this quality should (and was) portrayed by his actions (like being so excited about/interested in the article. Also, Lilly's reaction to Matt breaking up with her seemed strange to me. In the beginning, it seems like she tolerates him instead of loving him. She seemed to find him annoying. So it definitely felt weird to see her so shaken by Matt's decision (especially so quickly after he insulted her intelligence like that!) Well,… [cont.]

Is she into me or just friendly?
Q. Short version: There is a girl I like, (Chloe) she's not like most girls,... not popular... has about 3 or 4 guy friends and 3 to 4 girl friends that she hangs out with regularly. My best friend and I are among the guy ones. But we hang out at different places at school (like 5 feet away). I talk with her on MSN from time to time, and I talk with her every day in French. But she seems to like talking with the guy next to her, and I'm across from her. She spends about 65% of the class talking with him, and 35% talking with me. My best friend sits beside me as a neutral party. That other guy I know is not into her, and I don't think she is. But sometimes I get the feeling anything stupid he says is funny. And often what I say she laughs… [cont.]

A. Business writing usually does (or should) have the PURPOSE of clearly communicating. Critical writers often have nothing specific to communicate, resulting in vagueness and ambiguity in the finished work. They may call it "art", but it's ultimately meaningless.

Does anyone else hate the new cast of House?
Q. I'm still upset. I think the first three seasons were brilliant! The fourth not so much. I miss the interplay between Cameron, Chase, Foreman, and House. The new folks are okay but it doesnt seem like the same ole Princeton-Plainsburough hospital that i knew and loved. Why do the writers and directors always have to ruin a good thing? I know that their fellowships would have probably been over after three years, but House loved the rapport he had with the three golden docs. I know that i did. House should have just hired them as underlings instead of fellowship docs. Does anyone else feel this way? Also, why is Wilson angry with House about Amber's death? It's not his fault Amber answered the phone. It wasnt House's fault that she came to… [cont.]
