Yeah cool i know no one uses tapes anymore thats what i said to the lecturer (its for a report) but thes insisted i add in a bit about tapes aswell. Q. I have 300 gb now and growly slowly. I am planning to buy a LTO3 autoloader (holds 8 tapes) with each tape being 400/800 gb. So I am planning on using 4 tapes for Monday to thursday for incremental. And 4 tapes for each friday in a month (retension time is then 28 days), and one tape for a monthly full backup. Can anyone tell me if that is the right approach. My goal is be able to restore anything by using 2 or less tapes. Any further clarification/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Asked by csofrank - Thu May 18 19:23:51 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. that sounds good but on the other hand u will have to restore a whole series of backup tapes in order to recapture all all of ur files because each bkup would only include changed files , there4 althouth the bkup process would be quick, but the restore process would be unwieldy, if not inpossible, so i would only do that if am tryin to save time.
